Strikethrough Text Generator

Type or paste any text and get back a struck-through version made of real Unicode characters — not HTML formatting — so it displays correctly anywhere you paste it, including apps that don't support rich text at all. The conversion happens live as you type.

Works anywhere — paste into Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, or any app that doesn't support rich text formatting.

Why This Tool Matters

Someone updating a social media bio wants to visibly cross out an old job title, an old handle, or outdated information while still leaving it readable underneath — a small, deliberate "before" that makes the "after" land harder. A caption showing a price drop or making a joke often leans on the same trick, striking through the original price or the "wrong" answer for comedic or persuasive effect. And because most social apps and messaging platforms don't support native strikethrough formatting through their text editors, generating it as plain Unicode text is the only way to get the effect at all in a bio, a caption, or a DM.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this work on Instagram or TikTok bios?

Yes. Because this generates real Unicode characters rather than HTML formatting, it works anywhere plain text is accepted — including Instagram bios, TikTok bios, and any other app field that doesn't support rich text. Just copy the result and paste it in.

Why does it look different on some devices?

The strikethrough is drawn by a combining Unicode character layered over each letter, and exactly how that renders depends on the font and text engine on the viewer's device. Most modern phones and browsers render it as a clean, continuous line, but a handful of older systems or unusual fonts may show the strike mark slightly offset or with small gaps between characters.

Can I combine this with bold text?

Not directly through this tool on its own — strikethrough and bold each use a different set of Unicode character substitutions, and stacking both onto the same character isn't something Unicode supports cleanly. Run your text through the Bold Text Generator separately, then decide which effect (or which piece of your caption gets which one) fits best.
